Selecting your transducer is as important as selecting your depth sounder. The performance of the depth transducer depends on 4 essential factors : A high frequency (200 kHz) provides a better, crisper display of details, while a lower frequency (50 kHz) provides deeper readings. The beam width indicates the angle at which the signal spreads out under the water. With the same frequency, a transducer with a narrower beam provides more details and deeper readings. Transducers design varies (thru-hull, transom-mount, in-hull puck designs) depending on types of boat and navigation. Select the right one from our table. Installation hints : the transducer (speed and depth) must be in contact with the water at all times, but non-aerated water (no bubbles). Position must be away from planing strakes or protruding fittings disturbing the water flow, or on the downstroke side of the propeller.
